Bigger projects

Eventually, you are going to want to move on to bigger projects. That could include tops, skirts, or other large items. My first was a top. Sadly, it is unfinished, but it still looks pretty cool! I used the Anthem yarn in the spiced plum color, and used half double crochets to build the project. The photo below is about a quarter size of the actual project lengthwise.

Something I wish I knew earlier was that I was missing a stitch on the end of each row, resulting in a slant on the edges of my project. I fixed this problem in future projects by stitch marking the start of each row. Another thing I learned is that hdc are not very opaque. If you are looking for a thicker stitch, I reccomend the hdc herringbone, as mentionned on the post Summer tops. In the end, the project was slanted, but solidly built, and big enough to cover half of my torso.

It was a great learning opportunity for me. Another project I practiced on was the laptop case I made. It had some serious flaws but again, was a great lesson.
